Week 27 in Douala: For of Such is the Kingdom
Bonjour amis et familles!
I'm 87 weeks into the mission. Y'all should know what's about to go down here. I'm tired of making a unique intro every week.
MISSIONARY MOMENTS OF THE WEEK
We had the baptism of the 3 kids - Brayan, Marina, and Fred - on Saturday! I was chosen to perform the baptisms for the second time in the past month. All 3 kids were so cute; I could tell Brayan and Marina (the younger two) were pretty nervous once they got into the font, but it all went well. They were happy. I was happy for them. I couldn't not be happy for them as I was there in the font. Helping others come unto Christ and make that baptismal covenant, no matter their age, is what fills me with the most joy as a missionary. There were a few complications on Sunday and we sadly weren't able to get them confirmed, but we hope to get that sorted out so they'll officially be members of the Church!
We had a fun finding experience this week. We arrived at our friend's boutique to teach her, just as someone on a bike was passing by. He stopped and said to us, "I heard you guys explain to people the word of God." We said yes, that we did do that. He told us he was just going to be a few blocks down and we could go talk to him. We asked if he could wait until we finished with our friend. He said he probably couldn't. So, our friend we had scheduled to teach let us go talk to him while she waited. We talked with this guy, named Samson, for about 10 minutes, gave him the Restoration rundown, and exchanged contact information. We've got to set up a time to meet back up, but I'm sure we'll do so this next week!
SCRIPTURE/SPIRITUAL THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Matthew 19:14:
"But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
Kids are great. Way back when I was in Louisiana, I talked in a weekly about how young people and old people are the best. I do not retract that statement. Kids are eager to learn to begin with, but especially when it comes to the Gospel. There's a reason why Jesus himself loved children as much as he did. I have loved teaching these 3 kids; they're all super bright and ready to make the Gospel a part of their lives. The experience of baptizing them will stay with me forever.
Je vous aime tous,
Elder May
