Week 14 in Douala: Casual Saturday (Feb 28, 2022)
Bonjour amis et familles! C'est encore Elder May avec sa lettre hebdomadaire!
WHEN IN AFRICA
I saw a guy walking his big old hairy pig like a dog, leash and all. Just thought y'all should know.
MISSIONARY MOMENTS OF THE WEEK
This week was pretty slow, with not as many lessons as normal, for a few reasons. One was that both me and Elder Balanganayi got a little sick mid-week but we pulled through. But here are some cool things:
We had a lesson with someone we'd decided to drop because we heard he'd moved and he didn't keep appointments very well anyway. He reached out to us last week so we set something up, and it happened! As it turns out, this guy, when asked about his Book of Mormon reading, said that he was 'still in Alma.' So that shows he's really been reading! We had a great lesson, kind of gauging what we need to focus on for the next time. I'm excited to restart with him.
On Saturday, we had a branch activity where we went and played soccer. Might have been the first time I dressed publicly in casual clothes on a non-Pday since the States, or at least in a long while. It was super fun and we had a good turnout considering the size of the branch.
SCRIPTURE/SPIRITUAL THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
"Who will I bring to Christ? Who will you bring?
Can we look round about again, as Jesus did, to make sure no one is missed and everyone is invited to come to know Him?"
-Bonnie H. Cordon, October 2021 General Conference
I really liked this talk from last Conference - it put a new spin on the 'every member a missionary' theme that everyone knows. I love the question, "Who will you bring to Christ?" It's my job to, with the best of my ability, make sure no one is missed. It is hard when those who I teach don't understand the grandeur or power of Christ's message, but it doesn't mean that it can't change their life! It is imperative that no one goes without at least hearing about Christ's restored Gospel. So, my question is the same as President Cordon's: who will you bring to Christ this week?
Je vous aime tous,
Elder May
