Week 10 in Yaoundé: Quite the turnaround
Bonjour amis et familles!
I'm happy to report that this week was much better than last week. We had some great visits with members, some great lessons, and Zone Conference!
More details will be presented as follows:
MISSIONARY MOMENTS OF THE WEEK
Chronologically, these were all the lessons/visits this week:
We went to the apartment of this member named Patrick on Thursday. It was super nice. He fed us this nice authentic Cameroonian chicken dish with plantains as we talked about his conversion story. More funny details further down in the email.
We had 2 great lessons on Saturday. The first one was with Rebecca, who is progressing slowly towards that August 21st date. We talked about tithing, which she was down for. Actually being baptized in order to start paying tithing, she's timid about. She wants to know everything before baptism, which is impossible. But we'll keep talking with her.
The second lesson was with Huguette, who has reappeared 3 weeks after 2 great lessons in the span of 4 days. But she's still great. Even though she hasn't even come to church yet, I felt impressed to ask her to pray about if baptism is right for her at this time. And she said she would!
Our last visit was Saturday night with the Nguemse family. They live waaaaay far away and waaaaay off any main road. But their faith is inspiring. It's one of those 3-generation families. The middle generation was represented by this lady Noëlle who told us about how she found it hard to go to church because of travel distance. We told her about the importance of the Sacrament and about where our desire is. ("The Lord looketh on the heart"). Our conversation led to her making it to church!
FUNNY QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"You know that's a sin, right?"
We had a very funny conversation about food culture with Patrick. When I talked about how much I love rare-cooked steak, Elder Dion asked me this. I just responded with, "But it's delicious!" As long as I eat it sparingly, right?
SCRIPTURE/SPIRITUAL THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Ecclesiastes 12:13:
"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man."
I love the phrase 'the whole duty of man.'
God's goal is to 'bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man' (Moses 1:39), and our goal is to keep the commandments so that that can happen! It's that simple! So let's do it!
Je vous aime tous! (Comme d'habitude, bien sûr!)

PICTURES
These were all taken at Zone Conference except for the cool African nature pic. The one with only me and the African Elder is me and Elder Cimayi who's going home this transfer. After him, only 2 pre-COVID Elders will remain.
