Week 12 in Libreville: We meet a 'prophetess'

Bonjour amis et familles!

I've almost spent 3 months here in Africa at this point and I'm loving each week more and more. This week edition will proceed as follows:

MISSIONARY MOMENTS OF THE WEEK

This week was actually kind of hard in terms of finding new people to teach. We got a big goose-egg to show for our efforts this week, but it wasn't for lack of trying! For example:
We had a 'lesson' with this lady who we met the week before and she seemed really interested. The first thing she said, however, after our introductions, was, "God called me to be a prophetess." She then talked at us about her 'ministry' and all she did to preach the word of God, among a few other things. We couldn't get a word in edgeways, so eventually we just ended the 'lesson'. She did accept a pamphlet on the Restoration, but I think we're gonna leave her to do her thing.
On a more progressing-the-work-of-the-Lord note, we had a great couple of lessons and other meetings that involved Margueritte this past week. Her mom is a member, so yesterday we actually went over there to do the Sacrament. Since Margueritte was there, it became the first time in 8 months I've had someone I'm teaching attend Sacrament, so that was cool. What was cooler was all the awesome questions we got about the Sacrament from her and a couple of others who were there, and why it's so important and central to our worship every week. I'll talk more about it in the spiritual thought.

FUNNY QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Q: "Who taught you how to make this?"
A: "The Spirit."

I was over at the OG Libreville 1 apartment for secret reasons yesterday, where Elder Petrie was experimenting in the kitchen with this banana syrup concoction. Elder Meyer asked him this question. He responded that the Spirit told him to make it, which might have some credence, because it ended up being delicious.

SCRIPTURE/SPIRITUAL THOUGHT OF THE WEEK

Mosiah 18:9:

"Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection, that ye may have eternal life."

When we take the sacrament, we recommit to follow what we promised to do at baptism, which is follow Christ in all that we do. This verse in particular illustrates wonderfully what exactly that means. We do what Christ would do. We console, we comfort, we care. We are Christlike.

Passez une excellente semaine! Je vous aime tous!

Pictures include my most inclusive cityscape vista pic yet. And the ocean. And Elders enjoying each other's company. And finally, me.
