Week 8 in Libreville: Blitzes and Baptisms

 Bonjour amis et familles!

This was a very busy week and a lot of cool stuff happened that really furthered the work. Let me explain:

MISSIONARY MOMENTS OF THE WEEK

As a district this week, we did a 'blitz' - where all 8 of us went to one of the 4 areas throughout the city and just contacted and handed out brochures. So we did that Tuesday through Friday - one area per day. It was super successful and we've already taught 2 people that one of the other companionships found for us.

We also had another baptism! The wife of the guy in the mission presidency took the plunge on Saturday! I didn't teach her after the Africans came, but I did get to be in the pictures they took, since I was part of the process. Baptisms are always spiritually amazing and this one was actually better attended than the one last month - there were about 30 people there (just under COVID restrictions!).

As if the work couldn't move fast enough, we actually ended up putting someone on date for the 8th of May this week! It's this guy who lives down in Port-Gentil (POOR JOHN-TEE), the 2nd biggest city in Gabon (gah-BOHN) which doesn't have a branch yet, but has about 10 members. So that's really cool. I'm basically helping establish the church down there.
And, to top it off, we found 7 new people this week. All great and promising.

SCRIPTURE/SPIRITUAL THOUGHT OF THE WEEK

Mormon 9:18-19:
"And who shall say that Jesus Christ did not do many mighty miracles? And there were many mighty miracles wrought by the hands of the apostles.
And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles."

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He loved His children during the time of Jesus, and He loves His children now, and He will continue to know and love every single one of us. This doctrine fills me with so much joy and hope.

Short and sweet email this week. Hopefully I gave enough details. Of course, if you want more, I'm happy to give them.

Je vous aime tous,
Elder May
