Week 13 in Marksville: A lot of stuff happened but SNOW

 Bonjour amis et familles!

Bonjour amis et familles!

First off - I don't mean to alarm anyone, but it's currently snowing right now. In Marksville, Louisiana. And it's not one of those can-still-see-the-grass 1/4-inch snows. I'll attach a pic.

MISSIONARY MOMENTS OF THE WEEK

We had a lesson with Carl this week. He is inching closer and closer to deciding to be baptized, I can feel it. He's been opening up to us a lot as of late, and we've been able to see some of his reasons for hesitation, which has really helped him and us. We also asked at the end of the lesson if there was anyone he knew who might like to meet us, and he fully accepted that invitation and said he'd come up with a list of names! So that's cool!

A little miracle this week - we finally got back in contact with Monique! She was one of the ladies we put 'on date' to be baptized a while back, and right after we did that, both of them dropped off the face of the earth. Didn't answer any of our calls or texts. But lo and behold, Monique answered yesterday and we had a very good chat with her! Still no news on Rhonda, but we'll hopefully be meeting with Monique at least (the two are very good friends) Wednesday or Thursday!

FUNNY QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"You are literally not a tree!"

Elder Groom made clear to me this distinction when I put the water bottle he's using for his oak tree sapling (long story) to my mouth. I made it clear to him that I would never consume any 'Kowalski Juice' (his name for the plant).

SCRIPTURE/SPIRITUAL THOUGHT OF THE WEEK

Alma 26:27:
"Now when our hearts were depressed, and we were about to turn back, behold, the Lord comforted us, and said: Go amongst thy brethren, the Lamanites, and bear with patience thine afflictions, and I will give unto you success."

I'm pretty sure half of my spiritual thoughts so far have come from Alma, which statistically makes sense - it's by far the longest book in the Book of Mormon (63 chapters)! And it's so good! Here, Alma, a missionary at the time, is recounting his journeys. I read this scripture this week, and was comforted even as Alma was. I was getting a little discouraged that we weren't actively teaching anyone regularly (except for Carl, because he's the best). But, I know that as I trust in the Lord, He will give unto me success, no matter what that success looks like. I'm doing His work, not mine, and it's okay if His schedule and mine don't perfectly align at times. We can all have the faith that all will be alright in the end.

Je vous aime tous! I'd love to hear from you! (j'aimerais entendre de vous!)

1. Low-quality pic of me and Elder Taylor (we were driving)
2. Better quality pic of Elder Taylor; Roscoe needs to work on his posing skills
3. This one's for all my UHS peeps - doesn't Alma from the Book of Mormon videos look like Mr. Morrell? (also those videos are really good y'all should watch 'em if you haven't)
