Week 12 in Marksville
Bonjour amis et familles!
So I've got a new companion! His name is Elder Taylor and, like Elder Mills was, is also from the Phoenix Valley metropolis. He's been out as long as I have, and we're excited to take the reins in Marksville for the next few weeks!
MISSIONARY MOMENTS OF THE WEEK
One cool thing that happened this week is we were able to drop off a Book of Mormon. We get these notifications sometimes for people that fill out online forms who say they want to meet with us, and this came from one of those notifications. We saw that she lived almost outside the boundaries of our area, but when duty calls, you find a way! The lady that answered the door wasn't even the lady who filled out the form (she said she just went to the store), but we dropped it off anyway. Planting seeds, right?
With this last week being transfer week, a lot of time was spent teaching Elder Taylor about the area and the people. We also ended up double-booking ourselves from subpar communication with the other Elders (we were going to have another lesson with Carl on Saturday, but we had to cancel). But we have some promising things set up for next week!
SCRIPTURE/SPIRITUAL THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Alma 19:9-10:
"And Ammon said unto her: Believest thou this? And she said unto him: I have had no witness save thy word, and the word of our servants; nevertheless I believe that it shall be according as thou hast said.
And Ammon said unto her: Blessed art thou because of thy exceeding faith; I say unto thee, woman, there has not been such great faith among all the people of the Nephites."
A little background for the passage: Ammon, a missonary and a Nephite, has just taught King Lamoni, a Lamanite, all about Christ and the Gospel, and King Lamoni was so overwhelmed by the Spirit that he 'fell unto the earth, as if he were dead.' The queen, exerting great faith, says that she doesn't believe the king is dead. Ammon responds with what's in verse 10, and I really like it. Ammon is a very spiritually powerful man, but he essentially indirectly tells the queen that her faith is greater than his. It's such a humble response, and it also reminds me of the mustard seed parable - how all you need is a little bit of faith, and you can do great things. Also, spoiler alert: the king DOESN'T die!
I hope y'all have a truly monumental Monday and a wonderful week! Je vous aime tous!
