Week 2 in the MTC: "Can he swim? NO!"
Bonjour amis et familles!
I'm going to start off with the transcription of a song my brother sang to me on my birthday on Tuesday:
(to the tune of the Spider-Man theme)
"Elder Man, Elder Man
Does whatever an Elder can!
Can he swim?
NO!"
(Missionaries aren't allowed to swim. It's a safety thing.)
MISSIONARY MOMENTS OF THE WEEK
This is a new category I thought I'd add from here on out.
I went on a bike ride with my mom on Thursday, and we randomly came across my old Physics teacher from high school! It was fun to catch up with him, as well as point out my tag and talk to him about what I'll be doing for the next 2 years.
FUNNY QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"These noodles just blew our minds!"
This installment comes from Soeur Martial, again. After seeing an Elder snack on some stir-fry cup-o-noodles during class, she realized that she had some in her pantry that she'd never tried. About an hour after the class ended, she sent a message to the Google Hangout group that we made with the above declaration. It got quite the reaction!
SCRIPTURE/SPIRITUAL THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
2 Nephi 2:11:
"For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so...righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad...."
General Conference was last weekend (a semiannual event where the leaders of the whole church speak to us), and one of the big themes was how to overcome trials that we face in our lives, or moments where it might be hard to see the joy the Gospel brings to our lives. I know that these trials are for our good, for if they didn't happen, we couldn't know of the joy the Lord has in store for all of us.
What an amazing second week! I know how to pray and give a very rudimentary lesson in French! Again, I am appreciative of any questions, comments, concerns, or grievances you want to send my way! You could even use a little French in your queries if you know any.
Salut (friendly way to say hello/goodbye),
Elder May
