MTC Week #1
Bonjour amis et familles! (Hello friends and family)
I'll start by describing a couple of logistical things that I'm sure a lot of people have questions about in regards to how to adapt the MTC experience to a virtual platform, or if you have no background of what this looks like even in normal times.
My virtual district (group of missionaries) consists of 10 Elders and Sisters (6 and 4, respectively), and I'm the only one who was called to Africa. My virtual companion, Elder Israelsen, was called to Montréal, and the other 8 were assigned to labor in France (7 Paris, 1 Lyon). But, I'm not completely alone on this front, as one of my teachers, Frère (Brother) Bullock, served his mission in Benin, two countries over from Cameroon. Every day I have 6 hours of scheduled class time where I've learned how to teach people about the Gospel of Christ, while strengthening the knowledge I already have, as well as beginning to learn the French language, which so far is just review for me, which is nice.
FUNNY QUOTE OF THE WEEK
The quote of the week came from one of my teachers, Sœur (Sister) Martial, when we were playing a get-to-know-you game for part of our first meeting, and one of the Elders brought up that he owned a cat, and even showed it to the camera. Sœur Martial then said the above question!
SCRIPTURE/SPIRITUAL THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Mosiah 2:41:
And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.
I've been a missionary of Jesus Christ for 4 days now and I'm loving it! I've learned that you can truly feel the spirit through a computer screen, as I've felt the love of the Savior multiple times as I've been in class.I know that by living the Gospel of Christ, I can achieve true happiness for myself and everyone I teach.
Please email me if you have any questions about what I'm doing, or if you just want to say hello! I will be more than happy to get back to you!
À la semaine prochaine (until next week),
Elder May
